Some organizations like to know what expenses are incurred by Humanists.net for hosting their site. Because our clients and their needs vary so widely, it's difficult for us to place a dollar value on the services we provide to each. We can tell you, however, that the Institute spends approximately $24,000 per year to host organizations of common cause on its server. The majority of that outlay is for personnel costs, not disk space.

We do not invoice groups for these expenses, but if you'd like to make a donation to offset them we pledge to use your contribution to further our shared mission of spreading the humanist message on the Web. The support page on our main site can accept your credit card donation securely online. It also explains how to make a donation by mail.

Unlike the majority of humanist organizations which rely on volunteers and project outsourcing, the Institute leases a dedicated server all its own, housed in a secure facility where our hosted sites reside at our expense. We also employ a paid professional staff dedicated to the development and support of our technical initiatives. In this way we hope to offer the most consistent and highest quality services to our users. Our employees come to their jobs with strong and varied backgrounds in information technology. But best of all, they are committed and experienced humanist activists just like you ... people who share your dream of a more rational, humanistic world ... people with a vested interest in the success of your technical initiatives.
