In his response to the Article "Letter of Debate: Religion vs. Modern Science." brother Ahmad Ullah brought the same old wine into a new bottle. He claims ‘Quran is not a book of science’ but on the contrary he still advocated us to believe that Quran is full of scientific indications only if we do understand right! Let me examine brother Ahmad Ullah’s comments point by point:

Brother A. Ullah said:

"First of all Qur’an is not a book of science, it is book of guidance for the humanity. This book has taught the humanity that every human being is born sinless…"

My comments:

I agree with brother Ullah that, Quran is not a book of science, because I could not find anything that could be taken as science. In the past, I have written several articles in NFB about scientific flaws in Quran in which I had proved fallacies of so called scientific verses with ample logic and rational. Now, brother Ullah claims about "guidance of humanity" in the Quran which really surprise me! May I learn from brother ullah which Islamic country or countries have developed ‘humanity guidance’ from Quran? When no other religions can be practiced in Saudi Arabia the birth place of Islam, then where lies the humanity of Quran? Was the historical massacre of the Jews tribes of Banu qurayza by the prophet’s Army a humane practice prescribed by Holy Quran??? Is the Quranic decree of booty (Gani Matter Maal) taking from the conquered/captured people a humane system which people of the whole world should follow/practice? Did the Afghan Talibans learn humanity from Quran? Are Afghan Talibans a true sample of perfect Muslim? If not, could you give reasons why not?

Brother Ullah said:

"I understand that Mr. Roy is a research scientist on software engineering and not a classical linguist to understand and interpret the Qur’anic Arabic. Most of his scriptural

criticism were on the Muslim Holy Book, yet personally he does not have any understanding of the ancient Arabic language."

My comments:

So, brother ullah thinks, anybody who is not master/Ph.D. in Arabic can not understand Quran! Questions are why then Merciful Allah repeatedly told in the Quran (54:17, 22, 44:58, etc..) at least in a dozen of verses that, " I (Allah) gave Quran in simple Arabic so that common Arabs can understand well"??? What was the sole purpose of giving such a difficult book of guidance to poor mankind which nobody but a Ph.D. should understand??? Why then non-Arabs are dancing with the Quran which they will never understand? Why then non-Latin people should read Bible, or non-Sanskrit people should ever read Gita/Uponishod?

Brother Ullah said:

"When it is mentioned in the Qur’an about the wide expanse of the earth, it doesnot mean that the earth is flat. If it was true then in another verse Qur’an would not say that the earth and sun swim on its own orbit."

My comments:

To my knowledge no where in Quran said—"the earth and sun swim on it’s orbit"! Rather lots of verses said, "Sun and Moon swim on it’s own appointed course". In all religious books (Quran, Bible, Uponishod etc) certainly and clearly claimed earth fixed, flat and wide, expanse, spread, and never said earth is round, swimming or moving, period. The earth was considered by all religions the center of the universe. Brother Ullah could you give us the Verse # where Quran says "earth swims’ or "earth is round"???

Brother Ullah said:

"I would ask Mr. Roy to read an article appeared in the "Scientific American " sometime during early 80’s and he would learn about the contribution early Muslim astronomer made to the science of astronomy. This was possible because those astronomer got their inspiration from the Qur’an to explore the heaven to understand the greatness of the creator."

My comments:

Early Muslim astronomers certainly may have contributed in the science of astronomy which they inherited from other civilizations (Egyptian, Assyrian, Greeks, Chinese, Indian etc) but they never claimed that Arabs got the inspiration of science of astronomy from Quran or from religion Islam. Many advanced civilizations came to this area of middle east and left many scientific clues behind which Arab intellectuals/philosophers absorbed them. History tells us that—in those golden days of Arab/Islamic civilization, many Jews and Christians intellectuals worked as secretaries, translators and financial officials to the Muslim rulers. Many Christian and Jewish scholars played an important role in the translation/transmission of Greek scientific and Philosophical thought into Arabic. Jews in Spain came to use Arabic for philosophy, science, and poetry.

It was also possible that Arabs also developed/improved those theories by their research and later they brought them to the Spain from where exchange of ideas gone through with the west. Most of all no Arab scientists ever claimed that they got it from Quran. Quranic astronomy was nothing but the then prevailing knowledge (of the 7th century) of astronomy in the world—which of course later proved to be wrong by the modern standard of understanding of astronomical science. Quranic astronomy was the direct reflections of the Tolemic (erroneous) astronomical theories already prevailed at the period of 6/7 century.

Brother Ullah said:

"Professional expert like Professor Keith Moore, a renowned human embryology expert and french surgeon Maurice Bucaille just to name a few westerner have supported the Qur’anic indications of scientific phenomena and who is a soft ware engineer to refute those findings."

My comments:

Anybody who read the Quran unbiased can refute those hypocritical wish full bogus sciences described by Professor Keith moore and maurice Bucaille. I myself read their assertion of Quranic science but could not agree with even one single thing they have claimed. Both of them had their vested purpose (Bucalle got millions from Saudi King and Keith Moore sold his embryology book in the Islamic world like a hot cake), hence they were totally biased in their scientific assertion in Quran. They always made a big science out of nothing or from a silly verse which I have refuted many times in the past in NFB forum. In fact, these silly claims of science in Quran has completely destroyed the integrity of the divinity of the Holy Quran. In search of science I myself had to read Quran thoroughly and repeatedly and only then I discovered very well that—the Quran was written by man with all the knowledge of 7th century period. As per I am concern, there are no embryological/astronomical sciences in Quran which can be taken as authentic by today’s knowledge of science. May be brother Ahmad Ullah can show us where is the science in Quran!
