Manab's response : Creation, Evolution and others
Hello Usman,
Nice to meet you. Let's discuss a few things.Usman: To some freethinking is "never believe on what other say", but to me and you/some other might agree that freethinking is "thinking beyond what you are told, question God, question your self".
To me, yes, free-thinking means to think beyond what I have been told. Of course, that does not mean I have to be pathologically reluctant to accepting others' opinions. All this means is that never believe in what other's say just for the sake of believing; verify it yourself and then accept it. If you cannot verify it, reject it or put it in the backburner for future tests.
Usman: Accorind to Darwin's theory man and every living thing has evolved from non-living things. This single concept is against the modren biology.
Well, I am not so sure how you can say this. If living things did
not evolve out of non-living things, from where did they come,
according to modern biology? Stanley Miller had already demonstrated how amino acids can be synthesized from inorganic gases under a high voltage discharge. Forgive my ignorance, but as far as I know, scientists are trying to explain bio-organisms in terms of "dissipative structures", self-organized systems of non-living matter which show remarkable degrees of ordered phases in limited space and time. Probably you could look into Ilya Prigogine's wonderful book "Order out of Chaos". You can also read Paul Davis' articles.Usman: Scientist for last 35 years have tried their best to make a lfe
from some organic or in-organic compound, but unsucessful. WHY?I think the reason is quite simple: because we are yet to know the
intrcate details of many key life processes. That does not mean they
can't do it in the next 100 years. Imagine you and me, sitting in the
15th century, and arguing over the impossibility of flying machines.
Won't we be buffoons by today's standards?Usman: Dawin was mostly influenced from a French biologist whose almost all thoeries are against modren biology. Even Darwin in his paper said on page number 138 (1st edition) "If any life form does not
evolve in the next 50 years then I was wrong".
Whom are you referring to? And if Darwin said something like that,
well, he was wrong! He had no knowledge about DNA and its complex structure. Probably he grossly underestimated the time scale needed for a random DNA mutation to evolve into a meaningful "fitter" life form. That's all.Usman: In mutation what is actually done is that animal's DNA is exposed to Radiation. This cause distruction to the DNA. But what this distruction causes is animals with extra organs (like more legs,
multiple jaws etc), less organs (no wings, no sexual organs etc) or
fatal (due to lack of necessary organs). Therefore mutation is just
distractionRadiation causes DNA damage only when it has a certain frequency and intensity. Otherwise DNA usually has enough damage control pathways to withstand the daily dose of UV that we take in. Trust me, I have done DNA spectroscopy myself. Mutation triggers change in the DNA structure which can produce freaks. But when this thing occurs over a very long time scale, one of these freaks can turn out to be a superior species. Remember we are talking of the laws of probability operating over millions of years, not just 35 years.
Usman: I am attaching some pictures explaining mutation, I am also sorry that I couldn't find some still photos of those mutated animals. I do have some Video tapes, but I cannot get them online.
I could not make much out of your attachments. Can you give me the source itself?
Usman: Why don't we believe that there is someone there who made these all?
Because that does not satisfy us. If we believe that, we are stuck. Come on Usman, be sporting. If there is indeed someone up there, we're going to find him out, isn't it? So what's your problem? Now if there is really no one, then maybe you have to account for your faith.
About religion, I admit they contain much wisdom. At the same time they contain lots of nonsense and even barbaric/tyrannic messages. So I cannot agree with you that they bear sure signs of divinity.
Finally, I think you are a little too harsh on Ali, Roy and others. Probably they touched a few raw nerves in their scathing criticism against Islam. So far I haven't found anything too disagreeable in their artcles. I think we all should better chill down. Instead of being emotional, let's concentrate on facts and logic. If you can't stand someone, try another one. All of us here are ready to discuss.
Please feel free to discuss your doubts about scientific methods. I'll try my best to answer.
Have a nice day.
Manab
