Soul-ESP- psycho kinesis
Aparthib replies to Karina
Dear Karina,
I your last two posts you have made some remarks that I could not help responding to.In your post (Re [mukto-mona]Dr. Sina's article on Morality) you said (in the last para):
"In the meantime, lock your door and watch your back if you can, to protect your life, home, child, and a few meager possessions, for he/ she who fears only a flesh and blood policeman and not a disembodied entity who will punish him for his crimes in the afterlife, will come and rob, rape, stone, torture you."
You are implying here quite clearly that a robber, raper, etc are not believers in God. It is not always true. Many believers in God commit any or all of those crimes. We quite often read about fathers (Or Imams) committing acts of child molestations. Unfortunately belief in God is not a surefire deterrent against crime. But I can agree that it can keep it in check for some individuals who are paranoid about Gunah, but that is not all weather-proof either. But in general, belief/non-belief in God has no correlation with criminal propensity. Criminal propensity can only be modulated by social factors . Look at Singapore, Korea etc. Buddhist society are Godless in their belief. Yet a good number of them are moral.
Secondly in your post (Re [mukto-mona] About Atheism Questions to Ali Sina) you said:
"I, personally, believe there is a soul/spirit, as I also believe there is ESP (I've known it intuitively before, and now I know it scientifically, via experimentation), I know our consciousness does not disappear as soon as we die and something of us exists for a while (again from personal experience and not hallucinations). These beliefs of mine are rational as well as intuitive, and I believe all of us have the ability for telepathic communication, for extra sensory perception, even for a certain amount of psychokinesis (the ability to draw things to you you concentrate on strongly)."You have used "believe", "know" both above. I have no problem with the "believe" part. But I have to ask for your clarifications on your "know" part. Specially interesting is your claim "now I know it scientifically, via experimentation". If you know it scientifically,
the entire scientific community will know it and it will be in journals, can you refer me to those? Can you give us your details. Your calling belief as rational sounds interesting. To me rational is synonymous with logical/scientific and if any belief satisfies those criteria they are universally adopted as facts/truths about nature. But they are not, are they? (soul etc). Soul, like God is not a well-defined concept. It cannot be promoted from a belief to a truth. So, when you say know as opposed to believe, that refers to knowledge, and knowledge is something that is shared by humanity unanimously, not confined to private belief anymore. Nothing in Para science has been scientifically established. There are unexplained phenomena, certainly. But nothing has satisfied the criteria yet. to be claimed as "knowledge". Hope to get an illuminating answer from you.Aparthib.
